EUSC involves many different disciplines and levels – explore what we offer below.
Casual Sailing for all abilities is run every saturday, with the occasional Super Saturday bringing huge crowds to the lake. An opportunity to learn how to sail or hone your skills.
Saturday trips are perfect for any ability. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned racer come there’s a chance to get out on the water and do your own thing. If you’ve never sailed before, or just need some advice, instructors will be on hand the whole time.
We aim to run our casual trips every Saturday (weather permitting).

By far the most popular discipline at University level, Team Racing brings together boat handling, teamwork and tactics. Exeter currently has four teams, all of which regularly compete at other Universities around the country.
Each year we aim to send at least two teams to BUCS Team Racing Finals. In 2019, our first team finished in first place. We currently have the number one university team racing team in the country.
Team Racing Trials are taking place this year on 26th and 27th of September. The teams then undertake weekly training on a Wednesday afternoon and compete at team racing events on various weekends.
Excalibur is Exeter’s very own Team Racing event which attracts some twenty teams from the South and West of England. Offering top level racing and two unforgettable socials, it’s not a weekend to be missed.
Trials for Team Racing will take place on the 26th and 27th of September.
To sign up for trials come and find us on at the fresher’s fair.

Yachting, Keelboating and Match Racing
Yachting with Exeter University Sailing Club caters for all, from beginners to experienced racers there’s something for everyone! The club offers a comprehensive calendar of training and racing for Keelboats, Yachting and Match Racing throughout the year.
Our teams have enjoyed success over the years, with a 1st place at the 2019 BUCS Yachting Nationals and winning silver at the 2019 BUCS Match Racing Championships. Next year, our aim is to build on these successes further developing our strong teams to challenge again at finals. The BUCS events have training and trials during term time before the calendar culminates with finals held over the Easter holiday.
While fielding competitive teams for the BUCS events, we also have many non-BUCS related events. We have recently partnered with Starcross sailing club who have been very kind in taking out our members on yachts on numerous occasions throughout the year. We also partake in the British Keelboat League Events, the RYA Match Racing series and J70 Keelboat training & racing based out of the Royal Southern Yacht Club.
Keelboats – We aim to run a many weekend trips during term time, so keep a look out for the next trips sign up.
Yachting – If you are casual or beginner yachter, we recommend signing up to our day trips out of Starcross. Trials for the yachting team will take place in the spring term, if you’re interested in signing up please register your interest with the yachting captain.
Match Racing -Our aim is to run a number of training sessions for match racing as well as attending competitions. Keep an eye out on the yachting page for more information.
Whether you’re a racer, a casual sailor or even a social member, EUSC socials are the perfect opportunity to have fun off the water and meet other club members.
Every Wednesday night we make our way to Timepiece for Exeter’s biggest night out. In varying degrees of Fancy Dress, the Sailing Club can always be found on TP’s bottom floor stage.
Throughout the year, summer BBQs, black tie dinners and a even a netball team means there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
We also plan to host a number of non-alcoholic socials, including welfare brunches, with a more relaxed atmosphere to help new club members get to know each other
On top of all of this, Summer Sail Week gives you the chance to finish your year with a tour of Croatia on a chartered yacht.
The BUCS Fleet Racing Championships take place in early November and we aim to take as many sailors and boats as possible. Not only does it offer top level racing, Fleets is an opportunity to gain BUCS points for the Uni. Exeter have medalled in 11 of the last 12 Fleet Racing Championships including 1st girls team, 3rd mens team, 1st place in the Firefly fleet, and 1st lady in 2017. In 2018, the girls team won the competition overall, with Exeter again winning the firefly fleet.

EUSC has strong links with starcross yacht club and many of our members fleet race there every sunday.
