Exeter took the Bristol Brew by storm at Chew Valley SC this weekend – Exeter University Sailing Club

The 1s were unbeaten on Saturday, leading the event overnight and comfortably qualifying for Gold. Our 2s conceded races to strong teams from Imperial and Cardiff but after a tense re-sail, also secured a spot in the top flight.

Sunday dawned chilly and light and the 1s remained unbeaten. The 2s first results were mixed but in the Exeter Vs Exeter head-to-head it was the second team who took victory in a nailbiting race. As the day progressed the 1st Team continued their winning streak and 2nd team crew Annabelle Orme continued her tense relationship with boat failures at Chew Valley. After another re-sail and a convincing victory against the silver fleet leaders for the 2s, both teams made it to the top 4. The semi-finals arrived and the 2s defeated a strong Bath team in two races whilst the 1s won their best of three against Cardiff.

It was an all Exeter final and despite high hopes from the second team after their performance earlier in the day, the 1s took victory in 2 races. An awesome weekend’s racing and an excellent result for Exeter! Both teams are looking strong heading into BUCS qualifiers in the new year!
